• A story of poetic love in our club

historyofloveIt is said that two creative personalities don’t get along well in one family. Especially in regards to a couple of poets – "the poet has no partner, all the duets ended up with the duel" (A. Voznesensky). But this is a rule, and the rules, as you know, have exceptions.

This happy exception was a topic of a musical-literary performance "Konstantin Vanshenkin and Inna Goff — a story of love and life", performed recently at Hesed club by the volunteer Zoe Gutnik.

The poet Konstantin Vanshenkin (real surname is Vaincshenker, which in Yiddish means "wine merchant"), the author of lyrics to the cult Soviet songs – "I love you, life!" and "Alyosha," and the poetess Inna Goff, who wrote the famous "The Russian field", got married in their student days of the literary Institute in the 40-ies. And have lived together for the rest of their lives for over 40 years, supporting and creatively inspiring each other.

The poet-soldier Vanshenkin, who wrote more than three dozen of poetry and prose books, was known throughout the country for not only the songs mentioned, but also for a lyrical smash-hit "There’s a little light outside the window", heart rending composition "How the steamships are seen off ", and many others.

And the main masterpiece of Inna Anatolievna Goff used to be said jokingly about: "Russian field" — music by Jan Frenkel, lyrics by Inna Goff, performs Joseph Kobzon!"

The best lyric poems of Konstantin Vanshenkin were devoted to his wife, whom he called his friend and Muse. That's what the poet wrote after the departure from life of his beloved: "In Literature College we studied for a year and did not pay attention to each other. And suddenly something clicked, the events rapidly set us, and all ended up with wedding.

We had no artistic jealousy; rather, we perceived a good luck to another as our own. It was our own Union of Writers consisting of two people. Most writers' wives see their main concern in praising their husbands. It is also required as there’s no good word to wait from the critics, but we treated each other in a very demanding way. And love wasn’t hurt there, quite the reverse...

Yes, I got married happily. Common interests, a feeling that every creative success is shared... We had all that with Inna. I was genuinely pleased with her every success. Our family was a really happy one..."

The fruit of this happy marriage is the daughter Galina Vanshenkina, a well – known painter now. A granddaughter of poets, Catherine, is successfully engaged in literary criticism.
