Hanukkah duo exhibition of Jewish dolls and paintings is opened at the Jewish Art Hub

What lurks in the eyes of an elderly man, who has seen not only the color of white acacia trees and blue sea, but a black abyss of sorrow and joy of birth of the first child? What is his soul singing, and heart keeps silent? And what is it, a man's happiness? What is forgiven, what is forgotten and what remains secret – to these and other questions you can find answers on Hanukkah duo exhibition of Jewish dolls by Alexandra Marey and pictures of Albert Feldman, which is opened at Jewish Art Hub in the ICF "Jewish Hesed "Bnei Azriel".

Albert Feldman, Director of the Ukrainian-Israeli Institute for strategic studies named after Golda Meir, presented 36 paintings dedicated to the Jewish traditions. Alexandra Marey, the master of dolls, a winner of international competitions in Holland, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, introduced to the audience 26 puppet stories and scenes from the life of the Jewish people. The opening ceremony was held on the 7th of December, 2017.

During this wonderful evening, the official part smoothly turned into a charity concert, and the hall was full of touching, warm atmosphere. Numerous guests did not only give tzedakah for the project to overcome the social isolation of wards with reduced mobility, but also enjoyed musical compositions performed by the Yiddish duet "Nigun" (Helen Winn, Irene Sidorovskaya). It didn’t go without musical premieres, performed by Alexander Safonov, Helen Winn and Felix Schuster – they sang the song "Jewish musician." And popular melodies, masterfully performed by Felix Schuster, has caused a great tornado of applause! Guests who visited the exhibition, accompanied by talented authors were able to share with them their experiences. How much delight, well-deserved praise and sincere wishes could the authors hear! And this is by no accident. That’s because the format of the exhibition and its exhibits are unique in every sense of the word. Moving away from the cliché art exhibitions, the organizers have introduced a brand new format: portraits of Jewish men and children are accompanied by the author's Jewish dolls. This approach emphasizes the diversity depicted in the paintings of people, reveal their deep personal emotions. At the exhibition are presented lots of premiere works – mainly prepared specially for exhibition in our Hesed. In addition, all dolls belong to a private collection, so you can see them only here and only during the exhibition, which runs until December 28th, 2017.
